So it seems that Paris Hilton has been released from jail after only serving 3 days of her sentence, due to an "unspecified medical condition".

Yeah, right.

How the hell are we supposed to be ~~imposing~~ inspiring democracy in Iraq when it's obviously not even working here? The rich can do what they please while the rest of us are beaten down. It's feudalism all over again.

One Piece Licensed by Funimation

Per this tidbit at animenews (aka Anime News Network), it seems that the One Piece anime has been licensed again, this time by Funimation (the people who did that excellent Fruits Basket dub)! They point to an interview here with more information.

Looks like they plan to pick up where 4kids left off as far as the TV show is concerned, and that Cartoon Network will still be showing the show on Saturday nights, with the newly dubbed shows beginning in August. The DVDs will have the show uncut. The company is debating as whether to redub/release the show from episode 144 forward or to go back to episode 1.

Personally, I'm hoping they go back to the first episode, because the 4kids version completely hacked up the show (leaving out entire episodes, changing storylines and stringing pieces of different stories together). Hopefully, this will garner a larger English-speaking audience for One Piece, which is one of the most original and innovative stories out there.
